Perttu Ståhlberg

Finland

My interest in dogs started when I was young boy and we had Finnish Spitzes at home. I started to handle them at shows as they needed a show result. We have had also a Samoyed, a Siberian Husky and a Chihuahua. When I was studying, I needed a dog suitable for city environment and by accident the choice was a Dachshund. I started my own breeding with Long-haired Rabbit and Miniature Dachshunds under prefix Rodels and I have been awarded with the Finnish Kennel Club’s Vuolasvirta prize for merited breeders and there are some World and European Winners amongst my breeding. I have lived and studied also in Germany and the knowledge of German language has been of great help with the German national breed. Even though Dachshund are close to my heart, my interest in Spitz breed has remained. My judging career started in 2009 and besides Finland I have judged in most of European countries and South Africa. I have judged many Dachshund specialties and at couple of World Dog Shows. I am qualified to judge breeds in all FCI groups and to get familiar with new breeds is very interesting. I was a long-time member of the board of the Finnish Dachshund Association as well as vice chairman and chairman of the show judges commission.
