Katrine Jeppesen

Denmark

As I went to my first dog show at just 2 weeks of age, I can with big confidence state that I have been involved with dogs and dog showing my entire life.
I started in Child and Dog in the Danish Beagleclub as soon as I could and Juniorhandling for “minis” at 6 years old. I started juniorhandling in the Danish Kennel Club in ’04, when I was 10 years old and managed to become Runner Up Junior handler of the Year in ’06 and ’07 and then Junior handler of the Year in ’08, ’09 and ’10.
I, therefore, represented Denmark at multiple WDS and EDS and at Crufts three times getting shortlisted into top 6/8/10 at Crufts in ’09 and ’11, at WDS in ’09 and ’10 and at EDS in ’10.
I was also on the Danish national team in ’06-’10, winning Team Gold in ’07 and Bronze in ’08 and Individual Bronze in ’09.
Throughout my years of juniorhandling and showing dogs, I have tried all kinds of different breeds and temperaments, which I believe has contributed much more to my development as a handler than any competition and placement has ever done. I believe in challenging yourself as a handler and in the art of making a difficult dog look easy in the handling. For me, good handling is about the cooperation between dog and handler and about having fun with your dog in the ring. A juniorhandler should be able to do breed typical handling and not try to overdo it. All breeds – and dogs – are different and should be treated so.
I am very excited to judge juniorhandling at the World Dog Show and feel incredibly honoured to have been invited! I will do my very best to make you all feel comfortable and enjoy your time in the ring.
Can’t wait to meet you all!
