With a dog in Finland

Finland is generally a very dog-friendly country, but dog owners are expected to take good care of their dogs and consider the environment.

In cities and other urban areas, you are required to keep your dog on a leash at all times. For outdoor activity without a leash, there are fenced dog parks and swimming areas for dogs in cities. There are even dog forests in Finland. In inhabited areas, dog droppings must always be picked up and disposed of appropriately.

Please ensure safe travelling conditions for your pet too. Do not leave your dog alone in a hot car!

Welcome to Finland – we hope both you and your dog will enjoy your visit!
